ANDY JONES: GRAND PRIZE — "Surprise." On Aug 11/12/24 we once again had some Auroral displays reach us in NM. I lucked out that I started shooting as the bigger substorm started. I had this barn picked out exclusively for this situation.
VALERIE WELLS; 1ST PLACE ANIMALS — "Bee Amidst the Harvest"
ELDON VITA: 2ND PLACE ANIMALS — "Pondering Spring." A coyote stands on a log looking off towards a sound between two tree trunks at the Corrales Bosque, Albuquerque, NM
HARRISON ROOT: 3RD PLACE ANIMALS — "Prepare for Takeoff." Bee captured waking up from a slumber just seconds before flight.
RACHEL ROSE: HM ANIMALS — "Gallop of Affection." A major storm was about to roll in when I spotted these beautiful horses galloping in the distance. The baby was full of energy, darting around its mother with excitement. I managed to get close enough to capture a special moment when the baby paused and seemed to reach up to give its mother a gentle kiss on the cheek.
DOUGLASS COMBS: HM2 ANIMALS — "Cranes Against the Moon."
ANDY JONES: 1ST PLACE LANDSCAPE — "Don’t Get Comfortable." On my first official storm chase, a friend brought me to this barn where we waited for this storm to fully develop and creep in on us.
ROB LANG 2ND PLACE LANDSCAPE: — "Abiquiu Dusk." Photograph processed without Photoshop.
DAVID TURNING: 3RD PLACE LANDSCAPE — "The Wave." On this super wind day at White Sands National Park, I came across this wave formation in the sand. I’d never seen the sand take on this shape before and ten minutes later the wind had totally blown that wave away,
TIM BACA: HM LANDSCAPE — "Love and Light."
JORY VANDER GALIEN: HM2 LANDSCAPE — "Glowing Aspens & Dark Woods." Blue Hour, Aspen trunks glowing during blue hour in the Santa Fe National Forest.
TWYLA SISNEROS: 1ST PLACE MOBILE — "Up in Smoke."
RACHEL ROSE: 2ND PLACE MOBILE — "Little Cowboy." On my return from a camping trip, I spotted this charming moment- a little boy stepping off the school bus in his cowboy hat. I quickly snapped a picture with my phone. I was drawn to the contrast between his youthful spirit and the expansive New Mexico landscape.
TRISHA HUGHES: 3RD PLACE MOBILE — "Through the Storm." This was taken traveling the road home from Alamogordo to Albuquerque after saying goodbye to the sweetest soul. Beautiful reminder from the day.
EVALYN BEMIS: HM MOBILE — "Kitchen Vignette aka Pear and Geranium."
LINDSAY DAMRON: HM2 MOBILE — "The House That Built Me." The stories of past and present generations echo through the walls of this old house.
BRIAN VANDENZEN: 1ST PLACE NEW MEXICO EXPERIENCE — "Receding." Like the people of Chaco Canyon itself, the ruins recede into the morning snow fog at Chaco Canyon National Historical Park.
JENNIFER VALKIER: 2ND PLACE NEW MEXICO EXPERIENCE — "A Century of Fire: Zozobra's 100th Burn."
REECE PARKER: 3RD PLACE NEW MEXICO EXPERIENCE — "Enduring Faith." No matter how small the village, there will be a church showing peoples deep faith.
